Introduction of the 2026 Keynote Speakers – January 8, 2026

The first keynote will be delivered by Rosina O. Weber, Professor of Information Science and Computer Science at Drexel University. In her talk, “XAI is in Trouble, but is CBR?”, she critically examines the challenges facing Explainable AI and reflects on the position of CBR within the broader AI landscape. Drawing on recent work, she examines whether CBR faces an identity challenge and how the field can leverage its strengths to enhance its impact in modern AI systems.

The second keynote will be given by Eyke Hüllermeier, Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at LMU Munich. His talk, “In Any Case, or Maybe Not? Towards Uncertainty-Aware CBR”, focuses on the representation and handling of uncertainty in Case-Based Reasoning. He will connect recent advances in uncertainty quantification—such as aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty and conformal prediction—with CBR, and outline open challenges and opportunities for developing uncertainty-aware case-based systems.

Together, these keynotes highlight both reflective and forward-looking perspectives, addressing foundational questions as well as emerging methodological directions. We look forward to welcoming both speakers and to the discussions their talks will inspire at ICCBR 2026.

LinkedIn Page Launched – January 8, 2026

We are pleased to announce the launch of the official ICCBR LinkedIn page. The page will serve as a channel for sharing conference news, keynote announcements, important deadlines, and highlights from the Case-Based Reasoning community.

By following the page, community members can stay informed about upcoming editions of ICCBR, related events, and broader developments in CBR research and practice. The LinkedIn page also provides a space to showcase contributions from across academia and industry and to strengthen connections within the international CBR community.

We invite all researchers, practitioners, and students interested in Case-Based Reasoning to follow the page and help spread the word.
